France: Kimi wins - Ferrari are back
Sunday, 01 July 2007
raikkonen leadingAfter 3 races of taking a backseat to McLaren, Ferrari were back on form today.

After starting third on the grid, Kimi Raikkonen showed his true ability and managed to overtake both his McLaren rival Lewis Hamilton and his teammate Felipe Massa on his way to winning the race. The Finn passed his rival on the first lap and then his teammate after the second round of pitstops.

Both Massa and Hamilton finished on the podium in second and third respectively.

Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld for BMW Sauber finished fourth and fifth, an impressive performance for both with the Pole making his return after a horror shunt in Montreal and the German suffering with back pain for a period of the weekend.

Giancarlo Fisichella for Renault took sixth with teammate Heikki Kovalainen finishing 15th after being taken out by Toyota's Jarno Trulli on the first lap. After suffering from a gearbox failure in Qualifying, Fernando Alonso finished seventh and rounding out the top eight was Jenson Button for Honda after an impressive drive from 12th.

Retirements of the day were Scott Speed (Toro Rosso), Christijan Albers (Spyker), Anthony Davidson (Super Aguri), Jarno Trulli (Toyota) and Vitantonio Liuzzi (Toro Rosso).

Will Kimi beat Alonso in 2013 - 2014 season?
